Whale Watching Cruises - see the dolphins
and whales in the Wild!

Recently, my hubby and I went on our first whale watching cruise out of Hervey Bay in Australia.

We got out in the fresh salty air of the bay and we had the most wonderful time!
The weather was great, the whales were abundant, and the cruise operators were just fabulous.

In the following pages I will try to cover as many bases as I can, including such things as a map showing how to get to the Hervey Bay  departure point, the options when it comes to choosing a cruise that's right for you, other things to see and do during your stay in Hervey Bay including Fraser Island holiay options, some facts about whales including Humpback whales and dolphins, some recommended books on whales and reviews, some pictures and photos and coloring pages of whales and dolphins, and a visitors page for you to add your own whale watching experience and photos.

On whale watching cruises from Hervey Bay Qld Australia, you will readily see dolphins and humpback whales at play with their young.

Sadly, the Humpback whale is still third on the most endangered species list.

However it is during the whale migration season that the humpback whales, grey whales and
sperm whales make their way along the coast of Australia.

These beautiful Humpback whales and often the baby whales are most likely to be seen in the waters of Australia out of Hervey Bay between July and November. In total about forty species of whales and dolphins have been recorded in Australia.

What do whales eat ? Some whales, including the humpback whale, will eat krill, which is like a small shrimp. Other whales like the killer whales, eat fish and even seals.

The humpback whales migration season extends north along the east and west coasts of Australia to breeding areas off Queensland. From September to December they return to feeding areas in the Antarctic.

Whale watching cruises depart from Hervey Bay throughout the whales migration season.
